Day 92 - 94 Noosa Heads and some theme park fun
After Fraser we continued along the coast towards Noosa Heads. A pretty little town surrounded by beaches and with a river running through it. There was also plenty of nice bush and coastline walks. We only stayed one night but felt we got what we wanted out of Noosa. We know from friends that Noosa used to be a sleepy town great for relaxing, unfortunately, it’s now a busy tourist destination. Beautiful still, but we can imagine how nice it must have been a few years back. Our next stop was Brisbane to say high to former IKEA Perth colleagues, Tony and Corinna. On the way we stopped at the Big Pineapple to check out the very tall glassfibre pineapple, as well as going on the Pineapple Express - a 20 minutes very slow moving train ride (yet very pleasant and nice) that took us through the pineapple plantation. Thank you Lene, for recommending this awesomly cheesy stop :) We decided to not to explore Brisbane during this trip (instead save those days for other adventures), but one thing we didn’t want to miss out on was to enjoy one of Brisbane’s famous theme parks. Since Dreamworld was closed due to a tragic accident we decided to visit W.B. Movie World instead. It turned out to be a good pick and we had an awesome day. The Superman Escape rollercoaster was the favourite, but the Scooby Doo Ghost Ride was a pretty good one, too. After a full day at Movie World it was time to say ‘goodbye Queensland’. We made it across the border to New South Wales, but like last time we crossed a border we forgot about the time difference (why can’t daylight saving be a thing in all states?), and so we had to spend the night at a semi-dodgy rest area before reaching our next destination – Byron Bay. Before closing the Queensland chapter we have to mention some of its road signs. On the roads (this has been the case during our entire trip) there are signs to remind us to take a break, don’t drive tired etc. That’s great of course. But the Queensland signs were a bit extra cheeky we thought, and gave us some good giggles. So, here’s our top goory/giggly road signs: “Take a break. Tired drivers die.” “Arrive alive” (this one might be from NT) “Don’t sleep and drive” “Rest or R.I.P”
