Day 120 – 122 Wilson’s Prom National Park
On our way to Inverloch (to see our friends Liz and Billy), we first stopped at Wilson’s Prom National Park. We stayed two nights at Tidal River, probably the only camping area in the national park that you can access with a car. Not cheap – we know now that Victoria and also New South Wales does like to charge quite a bit for national park visits – but it was definitly worth the two nights. Tidal River itself is a great spot just next to the beach and river mouth, and the rest of The Prom National Park is even more stunning. We believe we got lucky to arrive here on a weekday and during off peak. Apparently this is one of the most visited national parks in Victoria (probably also Australia) and we probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much during peak sesaon. We got recommended the Sealers Cove walking track, a 19km return walk, and thought that would be a good challenge. It was a lovely walk through the forest, leading out the ocean and the beautiful Sealers Cove. We had lunch on the beach and dipped our already tired feet in the ocean before heading the 9.5km back to the car. Even though our legs were sore from the day before, we still decided to do the Mt Oberon Summit walk (7km return) before leaving the park and driving to Inverloch. And what a treat, the summit offers postcard perfect views of The Prom (too bad for us we timed it with a school class who also much appreciated the view from the top).
