Day 121 - 125 From Inverloch to Melbourne
From Wilson’s Prom we continued our trip to Inverloch where we visited two friends, Liz and Billy. It was nice to, again, get to sleep in a real bed for a couple of nights. It was also nice to catch up with Liz and Billy, eat homecooked food, play some boardcame and just hang out. After saying goodbye to Liz, Billy and Inverloch we steared towards Phillip Island and the Penguin Parade. At sunset, the small grey penguins come ashore after being out catching fish all day. The wiggle up on the beach and in to the bush above. Cute as buttons, however, even though the penguins are wild it’s a bit of an event going on with a big viewing platform and heaps of people. You can even buy popcorn to bring along, like going to a movie. Still recommend it, though! We only stayed one night on Phillip Island before continuing to Melbourne, only two hours or so away. The main reason for going to Melbourne was that we managed to time a concert – the Swedish band Rasied Fist was playing at Max Watts on Saturday 6 December, just as we were passing by (and the concert was awesome!). We also got to go sightseeing in Melbourne for a day and a half, which was really nice. Before continuing to our next destination – the Great Ocean Road – we had to do a pit stop at Tyrepower to get our front tyres replaced. The old ones had gotten pretty worn down to the point we could feel The Boss almost sliding on the road, not a great feeling! The new tyres did the trick and she’s litteraly “back on the road” again.
