Day 152 – 156 Eyre Peninsula

Coober Pedy, check. Our trip was about to continue on, this time southbound. Eyre Peninsula, was lurking down the road. Gateway to the peninsula is Port Augusta, sleepy town, where we just stopped to have a shower and a good nights sleep.

Heading south, we had a quick look at a lighthouse and just next to it a 2km something long jetty. Used to load gas onto ships. Lunchtime at Cowell’s Fish and Chips box offered fresh fish and chips on the menu (one of the best ones we ever had!).

After 350kms we had reached Port Lincoln. Having a quick look at the towns lookout, we decided to move on and stay at Coffin Bay National Park instead.

Next day Streaky Bay was our target, with a few quick sightseeing stops on the way. Streaky Bay, a sleepy little town, had few things to offer but rest and relax. Which suited us fine and we also got the last spot at the caravan park, so why not stay for 2 nights before hitting the road once more.

After enough rest and recovery, we aimed for Ceduna. As we arrived, we quickly acknowledged that most people must be on holiday because there were hardly anyone there (we had thought it would be just as busy as Streaky Bay, but apparently not). We had a quick chat with the Visitor Centre guy to check if Ceduna was the place to celebreate New Years Eve. NO! Got recommended to go to Fowlers Bay which turned out to be a great stop, We stayed for 2 nights and celebrated New Years Eve around the bonfire with the rest of the people at the caravan park (we even had fireworks YAY!) before hitting the road again in the morning hours of the 1st of January 2017.
